Telefunken and Audiopunks have joined forces to birth a plugin incarnation of their Echomixer device, home to three germanium preamps and a Hammond IV spring reverb. This emulation, molded after a tweaked 1960s original, transports the timeless sound seamlessly into the embrace of contemporary production realms.
The GUI faithfully mirrors the layout of the vintage hardware, its top section housing input and output level controls. Three vertical faders, christened A, B, and C, gracefully oversee the preamp channels. Channel A channels a pristine preamp rendition, while B introduces a modeled take on the original circuitry, and C offers a more overtly saturated option. The signal gracefully flows in series from left to right, with each channel independently at your beck and call for engagement or bypass. Following suit are a pair of horizontal faders; the first orchestrates the delicate dance between wet and dry signals, while the second, a ‘character’ control, unveils a variable dose of modeled germanium distortion.
Venture south into the GUI’s lower realm, and a set of parameters awaits your sonic command. Pre-Delay and Width knobs kick off the party, paving the way for a trio of spring reverb models (Echomixer, Custom 1, and Custom 2) and a Reverb Decay control. Following in hot pursuit are another pair of horizontal faders, offering a Tone control that spans the spectrum from Dark to Bright—an overarching EQ maestro for the reverb signal. A global Mix control wraps up this symphony of sonic possibilities.
