Pioneer DJ rekordbox 6 has been released! Pioneer DJ has announced a serious update to rekordbox. Version 6 adds a feature called Cloud Library Sync, allowing users to upload their collections to a linked Dropbox account, where they will access it across a maximum of 4 devices. Metadata and analysis information is additionally stored within the cloud and may be edited and sync’d back to the cloud.

Cloud Library Sync:

Tracks, playlists, and track metadata are ready to be synced across four different Rekordbox devices (phones and computers all included. While the music itself gets stored in Dropbox, the metadata for tracks and playlists is all stored on Pioneer DJ’s side of things. Here’s the fundamentals of how Cloud Library Sync works:

If you link your Dropbox account with rekordbox, you’ll upload a neighborhood or all of your library to the cloud once you use the Creative subscription plan. Then, once you log in to your rekordbox account on another device, all of your tracks, playlists, Hot Cues, etc. are synchronized. you’ll use this feature to make backups of your library, or to sync the library from your main computer reception or in your studio together with your laptop. you’ll also prepare playlists, tracks, and metadata like cue points on your iPhone.

rekordbox 6 FAQ

Is there a risk I’ll lose all my music by unsubscribing from rekordbox ver. 5 and downloading rekordbox ver. 6?

No. But you’ll first need to convert the library you used with rekordbox ver. 5 to use it with ver. 6.

If rekordbox ver. 5 (or earlier) is installed on your computer, you’ll see a button to begin the library conversion when you start rekordbox ver. 6 for the first time. Follow the on-screen instructions to start converting your library.

How can I use [Auto Relocate] and [Relocate] to find missing files?

If you’ve changed the location where you saved a track, the message [File is Missing] is displayed, and you may not be able to play or export the track. (The status column is marked with [!].)

In this case, you can [Auto Relocate] or [Relocate] the track.

[Auto Relocate] searches and relocates files in the folder specified by you in the [Preferences] > [Advanced] > [Database] > [Auto Relocate Search Folders].

[Relocate] enables you to manually specify the location of the file and relocate it.

Follow the instructions in either of the following two ways:

– From the  application menu

Select [File] > [Display All Missing Files] in the application menu. In the [Missing File Manager] window, click either the [Auto Relocate] or [Relocate] button.

-From the context menu

After selecting the track with [!], right-click to show the context menu and select [Auto Relocate] or [Relocate].

Do I need to reanalyze tracks to view the 3Band waveform ?

In rekordbox ver. 6, you can choose the new style of waveform [3Band]. However, tracks analyzed by the older version of rekordbox don’t have the 3Band data, so the [?] icon appears.

Tracks with the [?] icon can’t show the 3Band waveform even if you select [3Band] in [Preferences] > [Display] > [Waveform] > [Colors].

To fix the problem, right-click the track and select [Add New Analysis Data] from the context menu.

After updating to ver.6, do I have to set cue points and beatgrid for my tracks again?

No, you don’t have to set them again.

When you run ver. 6 for the first time, your current library will be converted for use with ver. 6.

All information in your library, such as cues, beatgrid, and playlists, will be copied over. (Alternatively you can select [File] > [Library] > [Import your library from ver.5].)

I exported tracks of iTunes Playlist to USB/SD device using rekordbox ver. 5, then edited the track data (cues, beatgrids, ratings) on a DJ player. Can I use [Update Collection] of rekordbox ver. 6 to get the edited track data back to my collection?

You cannot use [Update Collection] of ver. 6 for the tracks exported using ver. 5 (iTunes Playlist).

The rekordbox [LINK] button does not show up when I connect my computer to the CDJ/XDJ with a LAN cable.

PRO DJ LINK works when rekordbox is in [EXPORT] mode. (It does not work in [PERFORMANCE] mode.)

1. Depending on the security software used on your computer and its operating system settings, it may not be possible to establish a PRO DJ LINK connection. If this occurs, it will be necessary to check your settings for the following four programs to ensure that they are not blocked:

– rekordbox program file
– ProDJ Link System Manager
– ProDJ Link NFS Server
– edb_streamd

check “Windows Firewall settings”

2. PRO DJ LINK may fail to run properly if your computer is connected to multiple networks as the networks (wired LAN, wireless, etc.) may interfere with each other. If this is the case with your computer, you can resolve the issue by disabling networks not used by PRO DJ LINK or set the network precedence properly to favor the network used.

3. PRO DJ LINK may fail to run properly if the Port used by rekordbox for PRO DJ LINK is being used by another application (NSF server, etc.). To resolve this issue, close the application or service being used and then try again.

4. PRO DJ LINK may fail to run properly if Internet Sharing is enabled. If this is the case, disable Internet Sharing and then try again.

5. When there is a router connected on the network used by PRO DJ LINK, the network may fail to be established properly depending on the order in which connected devices are powered on. Either first turn on the power to the router and then connect the device, or disconnect the router.

I’m having problems syncing to my Dropbox account. What should I do?

Check if you’re logged into your Dropbox account in the rekordbox preferences.

Next, make sure the account you’re logged into on the Dropbox desktop application matches the Dropbox account you’re logged into within rekordbox.

Tracks that only exist on other computers or mobile devices are listed in a track list. Can I hide the tracks that can’t be played?

You can hide them using the Cloud column filter.

After uploading a track via rekordbox, I can’t play the track with the iTunes/Apple Music app.

If [Move] is selected when uploading tracks, the tracks will move from the original folder to the Dropbox folder.

As a result, the tracks in the folder that the iTunes/Apple Music app refers to are deleted and can’t be played.

To upload a track and keep it in the folder that the iTunes/Apple Music app refers to, select [Copy]. You can switch this setting in [Preferences] > [Advanced] > [Library Sync].

If you’ve already moved a track to a Dropbox folder, you can return it to the previous folder by selecting [Cloud Library Sync] > [Move to local storage] in the context menu.

I can’t load a track that I uploaded to the cloud from another computer or mobile device.

The track might not have been downloaded to the device you’re using.

Check the status of your Dropbox desktop application.

Track titles are grayed out on my computer and I can’t play them.

When a track title is grayed out, it means the file hasn’t been transferred from your other computers/mobile devices. To play the track in rekordbox, you need to transfer it from your other computers/mobile devices in one of the following ways:

– File transfer using Mobile Library Sync

1. Connect rekordbox (Mac/Windows) and rekordbox (iOS) to the same Wi-Fi network.
2. In rekordbox (iOS), tap [Settings] > [Connect to rekordbox (Mac/Win)].
3. In rekordbox (Mac/Windows), click [SEARCH MOBILE].
4. Select the track from a track list in rekordbox (Mac/Windows) and right-click to show the context menu. Select [Mobile Library Sync] > [Transfer to this computer].

-Using Cloud Library Sync

1. Open the information window and check which device contains the track with the grayed-out title.
2. Upload the track from the device that contains it.

rekordbox (Mac/Windows):   Select the track from a track list, right-click and select [Cloud Library Sync] > [Upload] from the context menu.

3. Once the track has been uploaded, it will be downloaded automatically by the Dropbox desktop application installed on your computer.

What is Library Sync?

Library Sync enables you to prepare tracks for DJing using the same library on different devices which are logged into the same Pioneer DJ account. There are two types of Library Sync: Mobile Library Sync and Cloud Library Sync.

You can use Library Sync with rekordbox (Mac/Windows) ver. 6 and rekordbox (iOS) ver. 3.

What is Mobile Library Sync?

With Mobile Library Sync you can sync your rekordbox library when your computers and mobile devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

This helps you to seamlessly prepare tracks for DJing. For example, you can use your computer at home while using a mobile device on the move.

What is Cloud Library Sync?

You can use Cloud Library Sync to sync your library on the cloud with the libraries on your computers and mobile devices.

You can switch your Dropbox account in:

rekordbox (Mac/Windows): [LIBRARY SYNC] tab on My Page

rekordbox (iOS): [Settings] > [Account Information] > [Cloud Storage Services]

When you switch your Dropbox account, the changes will be applied to all versions of rekordbox (Mac/Windows/iOS) logged in with the same Pioneer DJ account.
